We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Operations Interface Manager to join our team at Avanti West Coast. This role is crucial in managing operational changes arising from infrastructure updates by Network Rail. If you have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for ensuring smooth transitions in operational processes, we want to hear from you!

You’ll be at the forefront, reviewing Driver Route Risk Assessments, providing expert insights on change requests, and driving the Operational Readiness team to excel in infrastructure changes and ETCS delivery.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Route Knowledge Training: Develop and implement initiatives to ensure AWC drivers have the highest standards of route knowledge training and information.
  • Driver Training Strategy: Design, plan, and implement a driver training strategy for new infrastructure schemes, utilising technology to enhance training and communication.
  • Signalling and Layout Design: Deliver AWC input on signalling and layout design from concept to implementation, collaborating with Network Rail Project teams.
  • Capability Development: Support the development of AWC’s ETCS capability, working with Network Rail TriLink and industry teams to meet driver requirements.
  • Standards Liaison: Act as a liaison between AWC, Network Rail, and WCPD on ETCS standards, ensuring alignment across current and future operations.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Train Driving Experience: Previous train driving experience is essential for designing effective training plans and providing industry input.
  • Signal Sighting Knowledge: Understanding of signal sighting activities, RSSB and industry standards, and ORR regulations is required.
  • Railway Industry Knowledge: Broad knowledge of the railway industry structure, including key organisations like Train Operators, Network Rail, and the Department for Transport.
  • Skills and Abilities: Must have an in-date UK Train Driving License, the ability to present complex information clearly, engage and influence colleagues, provide counsel on decision-making, and lead with integrity.
