Student Business Analyst: Analysing Trends, Driving Growth in Revenue Management! 

Avanti West Coast are looking for two Student Business Analysts to join our team on a 13 month placement. You will engage in various analysis projects across Revenue Management, Sales, and Marketing. You'll support key initiatives by creating business case reports and models to predict the impact of changes like new products, promotions, and pricing adjustments. Additionally, you'll measure the impact of these changes and assist Revenue Analysts with the information and recommendations needed for strategic decisions. By managing bespoke reporting suites and processes, you'll keep multiple teams informed on various metrics, including the Revenue Management, Commercial, Finance, Operational Reporting, Route teams, and other Commercial and Finance partners.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Analyse and report on trends: Examine and report on revenue, overcrowding, and distribution trends across the network.
  • Data manipulation: Efficiently manipulate data to provide valuable outputs that inform revenue analysts in making pricing and strategy decisions.
  • Business cases and models: Produce business cases and models to predict the impact of changes.
  • Clear communication: Clearly communicate these trends to all levels within the company.
  • Support commercial initiatives: Assist with key initiatives within the commercial team.
  • Interpret changes: Interpret the effects of significant changes on the business.

Who we’re looking for: 

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word is needed. Knowledge of accessing data sources using SQL and manipulating data in Power BI is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Ability to produce insightful and rigorous analysis in various commercial situations. Excellent communication skills to present complex technical ideas to any audience. Strong teamwork skills.
  • Experience in prioritising multiple streams of work for yourself and others, focusing on those with the most value.
  • Must be a university student undertaking a year placement before their final year of studies. Must be on course to achieve a 2.1 or above in their university studies. Must have a B or above at Maths A-level.
