Job description
West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD) is working with Department for Transport (DfT), HS2 Ltd to design, develop and put in place the new high-speed services that will run on HS2.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the WCPD Partnerships Team as Partnerships Manager WCPD.
The role is based in London (338 Euston Road) and with the requirement for some travel on our network at times. The expectation will be a minimum of 2 out of 3 days per week in the office.
The purpose of the job:
Work as a key part of the West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD) team, the Shadow Operator for HS2, designing new high-speed services, as well as reshaping existing Avanti West Coast intercity services.
Manage the development and expansion of strategic relationships with our partners, which include, HS2 Ltd, the Department for Transport (DfT) and Network Rail (NR).
Provide a robust foundation for collaborative working, enabling relationship continuity and act as a role model for our culture and behaviours.

Key accountabilities
- Build and strengthen effective relationships with our partners to enable joint working and the sharing of best practice to support an ethos of continuous improvement (to include HS2 Ltd, the DfT and NR).
- Work independently and with own initiative to identify opportunities for improving our engagement approach.
- Demonstrate and embed a culture of collaborative partnership working. Take an active role ensuring that the collaboration agenda is moving forward and mentor colleagues where appropriate.
- Work with the internal and external teams to undertake regular stakeholder identification, partnership mapping, and relationship evaluations to inform and tailor proactive stakeholder relationship improvement plans.
- Drive partnerships forward, sharing the outcomes with the team and proactively ensuring the benefits to WCPD are realised.
- Work with key people throughout the organisation to identify, record and articulate evidence of collaboration with partners to support reporting/drafting of the performance packs and the Annual Review Checklist (ARC).
- Produce periodic reports for partnership meetings, board reports, and Department for Transport (DfT) Performance meetings as required.
- Develop and support collaborative events - regular meetings, workshops, and training courses between the partners.
West Coast Partnership Development
West Coast Partnership comprises two distinct parts – Avanti West Coast and West Coast Partnership Development. Avanti West Coast runs the train services from London to north England, north Wales and Scotland.
Our work in WCPD is focused on developing plans for what the new high-speed services will look like (customer experience), how they will work (railway operations) and how we will start running new services and trains (mobilisation). Over the next 9 years we will develop and implement a programme of recommendation projects covering all aspects of setting up and running the future business. (HS2 Ltd are building the new railway and associated infrastructure).
