Drive Innovation in Station Development!

As a Project Manager for Station Development, you will thrive in a commercial and customer-focused environment, delivering quality work that makes a real difference. You will successfully manage and deliver a portfolio of station projects valued up to £5 million per annum. Your responsibilities will include shaping project remits, recognizing commercial opportunities, and managing commercial contracts and Statements of Work. You will lead the strategy and development of station/asset-based initiatives, ensuring the delivery of medium to large station projects within budget, while promoting and generating wider revenues by exploiting commercial opportunities at stations.

 

This role is for Birmingham or London offices/stations.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage day-to-day project activities: Includes cost estimates, business justifications, budget management, risk mitigation, issue resolution, and client reporting.
  • Collaborate with regional teams: Work with safety teams, General Managers, and Estate Managers on supplier risk assessments.
  • Oversee projects from start to finish: Handle all stages from brief to handover, including budget, design, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Develop and implement station strategies: Focus on community fit, capacity, value generation, and local demographics for Avanti West Coast stations.
  • Maximise commercial opportunities: Attract third-party funding, enhance community and retail offerings, and aim for a 10% increase in commercial value.

Person Specification:

  • Railway industry expertise: Experience in managing industrial client portfolios and negotiating contracts, including JCT and NEC.
  • Commercially astute and customer-focused: Knowledge of RIBA/GRIP plans, thriving in a pressurised environment.
  • Collaborative and safety-focused: Proven ability to develop teams and prioritise safety.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills: Strong written and oral skills, ensuring deadlines are met and targets exceeded.
  • Flexible and experienced: Over 5 years in project/property management, 2 years in a live railway environment, and a degree or equivalent experience.
