Transforming Timetable Coordination and Operational Readiness

Avanti West Coast is seeking a dynamic and experienced Timetable Readiness Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of timetable change readiness activities, encompassing comprehensive governance and programme management for effective execution.

The role includes co-ordinating with the Events Readiness Manager for strategic workforce planning and strike readiness activities, supporting the Head of Operational Readiness with strike activities, and undertaking seasonal readiness activities. Other responsibilities include delivering Operations & Safety Business Plans & Committed Obligations, compiling the annual business plan for TSO – Operations, supporting forecasting activities, and collaborating with the finance team for budgeting and business planning.

 

This role can be based in Birmingham or London.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ownership & Delivery: Governance and programme management for effective delivery of timetable changes, creating Initiation Documents and Programme Plans.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional coordination of business functions to ensure alignment with timetable change activities, fostering cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Implementation: Applying lessons learned from previous timetable changes and overseeing the business implementation of the timetable step-up strategy.
  • Support & Coordination: Working alongside key managers to align activities with timetable readiness requirements, supporting workforce planning and strike readiness, and undertaking seasonal readiness activities.
  • Strategic & Operational Planning: Delivering Operations & Safety Business Plans, compiling the annual business plan for TSO – Operations, supporting forecasting activities, and collaborating with the finance team for budgeting and business planning.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge: Operational delivery requirements driven by timetable design, traincrew diagramming & roster design principles, project management principles, business planning processes, and Network Rail structures.
  • Skills: Practitioner experience in an operational environment, exceptional written communication and analytical skills, positive and resilient attitude, project management skills, and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience: Presenting complex information clearly, managing and coordinating people and processes across disciplines, strategic planning, and cross-functional plan compilation.
