Job description

 Leading the way for Optimal Train Service Performance.

 

As the Senior Performance Management Manager, you will collaborate with the Performance Team, Service Delivery Functions, Network Rail, and other operators to develop and implement improvement plans and risk mitigations. Your role involves gathering inputs, providing consultation, and holding third parties accountable to ensure optimal operational performance outcomes.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Lead Performance Management Team: Set team direction and ensure high standards in performance management, seasonal resilience, incident learning, and disruption management.
  • Ensure Service Punctuality: Deliver service group punctuality to targets, manage functional and third-party performance, and identify remedial actions for shortfalls.
  • Impartial Performance Management: Provide independent performance management, identify remedial actions for risks/issues, and act as a senior escalation point for operational performance.
  • Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement: Lead Route Performance Managers, set goals, allocate resources, and empower the team to engage stakeholders and drive performance improvement.
  • Proactive Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor performance outcomes, manage third-party impacts, ensure delivery of performance improvement plans, and escalate risks/issues within governance forums.

Who we're looking for: 

  • Railway Operations Knowledge: Sound understanding of Railway Operations and Performance, effective performance management, risk management, and improvement planning.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Excellent team management, strong interpersonal and motivational skills, and a commitment to improving team and organisational capability.
  • Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: Curious, analytical, critical thinker, problem solver, with the ability to make quick, informed, evidence-based decisions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Develop positive relationships with stakeholders, excellent negotiation and persuasion skills, and effective communication at all levels.
  • Organisational and Project Management: Strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise work, deliver projects to time, quality, and cost, and work closely with Network Rail and other operators to minimise third-party risks.
