Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Data Protection Compliance Officer to join our team based in Birmingham/London on a 12 month FTC for maternity cover. In this pivotal role, you will ensure our company adheres to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws. Your efforts will be crucial in maintaining our commitment to data privacy and regulatory compliance. If you are passionate about data privacy and have a keen eye for regulatory compliance, we would love to hear from you! This is a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborative Efforts and Accountability: Work with colleagues to enhance controls, improve the control environment, boost customer outcomes, and reduce operational and regulatory risk.
  • Expert Advice on Data Privacy: Respond to queries and provide advice to AWC and WCP on all aspects of data privacy.
  • Supporting Data Protection Rights: Assist with all instances of individuals exercising their rights under data protection legislation.
  • Championing Data Protection Policies: Champion and embed the relevant data protection policies and accompanying standards.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience in a data protection role, ideally within the rail or public transport sector
  • A good working knowledge of UK data protection legislation and best practice.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships, influencing colleagues across the business along with external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally to deliver guidance and advice to the business on how to comply with relevant legislation.
