Are you ready to lead and inspire? We are looking for an experienced people manager to join our leadership team as a Station Manager at Stafford and Rugby Stations for 12 months. 

We’re looking for a business manager and people leader to join us at Avanti West Coast, where you’ll champion Avanti West Coast to be the transport of choice. As a Station Manager you’ll be empowered to deliver a service that sets new standards for customer experience and operational excellence through effective leadership and customer-focused innovation.

To be successful in the role you’ll have previous experience of leading teams in an agile, fast-paced environment and you will continuously champion our vision and values to ensure that we connect our customer and communities along the west coast. You will understand how your station interacts and impacts on railway operations, recognising the needs of the business and industry, your station team and its customers while identifying opportunities to improve both customer experience and operational excellence.

Reporting into the Customer Experience Manager you will have sole responsibility for managing two stations where you’ll drive business initiatives and change with positivity and pace, while ensuring the delivery of safety, people, and operational performance detailed below.

Safety:

  • Ensure full compliance with safety, security, and environmental standards
  • Implement and promote of a positive safety culture
  • Regular review of all associated risk assessments and audits
  • Manage local safety arrangements
  • Ensure adherence to all industry regulations and health and safety guidelines.

People:

  • Inspire, coach and develop your teams ensuring they have the right skills and knowledge to deliver for our customers.
  • Lead Local Trade Union meetings and maintain strong industrial relations
  • Manage and lead ER cases (investigations, disciplinaries, performance management etc..)
  • Manage Absence KPI’s for your station
  • Deliver engagement strategy

Business and Operational performance:

  • Manage station budget for income and expenditure
  • Lead throughout service disruption and recovery to minimise impacts on customers and colleagues
  • Drive revenue performance through the management of automated ticketing systems
  • Ensure the station operations meet train running performance KPIs
  • Ensure stations meet contractual obligations
